Volunteers are an integral part of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and the preservation of our heritage line, stations and rolling stock. There are hundreds of people up and down the line performing a variety of enjoyable, meaningful and challenging roles, from the operating and maintainance of our trains, to looking after our stations, helping with administration, checking tickets and serving our passengers in the booking offices, shops and tea rooms.

Volunteers are our everyday Superheroes. During a normal operating season, our #Volunteers donate over 200,000 hours in order to operate the railway - that’s an average of 22 hours per person every month! Thank You!

Love Your Railway is a six-week summer campaign from July 26th to September 5th, which aims to shine a spotlight on, not only the important work heritage railways do with regards to conservation, education and research, but also highlight how they have all been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in terms of reduced capacities and income.

How to #LoveYourRailway
