Pickering – Scarborough 17 miles

Pickering Station is just off the A170 between Scarborough and Thirsk and lies just off the A169, 9 miles from Malton and the A64.

Goathland and Grosmont Stations can be reached from the A169 Pickering – Whitby road or the A171 Whitby – Guisborough road and are well signposted.

Car Parking

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway has car parks at Pickering, Levisham, Goathland and Grosmont Stations. Parking is limited and can fill up on busy days, remember to allow adequate time to park, buy tickets and catch your train! At Whitby there are car parks adjacent to the railway station, these are not owned by the NYMR and charges will apply.

Additional overflow car parking is also available at Platform 3 Car Park, Pickering, 200 metres beyond the NYMR station car park and well sign posted. Parking is also available in the town centre, on Vivis Lane, Pickering, these are not owned by the NYMR and charges will apply.

Pickering and Grosmont Stations offer all-day car parking for £5. Goathland Station costs £3.50 per day. Levisham Station offers free car parking but a donation to Levisham Station Group is requested.

Covid-19 Mitigations


We have received Visit England’s ‘We’re Good to Go’ accreditation to ensure that we are Covid-19 secure. These measures include:


✔  Travel in groups of a max of 6. #Ruleof6
✔  We've an enhanced cleaning regime between services.
✔  We Zoono ‘fog’ our carriages and all public areas.
✔  We ask that everyone wears a face covering whilst moving around the railway.
✔  We’ve reduced capacity on board our trains.

Due to government guidance, the railway is currently closed until further notice. Our Customer Services Team are monitoring emails, however with reduced staff working, replies may be delayed. We will update the website and our Social Media with any opening details as soon as we are able.
