Group Santa Express Visits
Santa Express is NYMR's flagship Christmas event, offering a character driven, immersive festive journey aboard a heritage steam train through the North York Moors. Children enjoy a personal visit from Santa, receive a plush toy and festive book, and are entertained throughout by a cheeky team of elves, with platform activities and festive entertainment completing a full day out.
The theme for Santa Express 2026 is The Gingerbread Man, a classic and playful festive character running throughout the event, from the onboard performance to the themed visitor gift and platform activities. NYMR are working with Wise Owl Theatre Company again to bring this enchanting festive experience to life.
The onboard journey is approximately one hour, taking guests on a return route between Pickering and Levisham. Visitors will be entertained by Santa and his elves, who deliver Christmas gifts to all children on board. Santa's team of elves includes Elton Elf, the musical genius; Chef Custard, Santa and Rudolf's personal chef; and Joey Marshmallow, the trickster elf. Look out too for Gingersnap, our gingerbread puppet, who arrives on a baking tray after a mishap in the kitchen. Throughout the show, the elves will be on hand to help piece together what happened.
Platform activities and entertainment are available before and after departure, so guests should allow extra time to enjoy the full range of experiences.
