If you are looking to host a unique and memorable occasion for up to 18 people, why not charter our opulent Great Western Saloon carriage. Ideal for both business and personal events, whether that’s corporate entertaining, networking events, team away days, birthdays, anniversaries or retirement parties, the Great Western Saloon carriage is available for hire throughout our running season.
Built in 1948, this carriage has two luxurious seating areas with fine furnishings and observation windows for you to admire the fantastic views that the North York Moors has to offer.
The Great Western Saloon carriage is available for hire on various dates between March and November 2026. Each service can accommodate up to 18 guests for the complete package price. You will receive a return journey from Grosmont to Pickering with on-board buffet, a dedicated member of staff and complimentary mineral water. We can provide a bar onboard offering a small selection of wine, local beers, lagers & soft drinks.
Optional Extras: We’ve expanded our menu with a range of freshly prepared side dishes, crafted by our chef. Options include vibrant beetroot salad, Radford’s locally made layered pie, and delicious vegan choices. These extras are available for an additional cost alongside our main Signalman Buffet menu.

Your charter experience includes:
A return journey from Grosmont to Pickering on board the Great Western Saloon for up to 18 guests.
Signalman Buffet Lunch Enjoy locally sourced savouries, fresh salads, and speciality breads on your outward journey, followed by indulgent desserts, tea, coffee, and chocolates on the return.
Complimentary mineral water.
A dedicated member of staff to look after your group and assist with catering.
Payment: You will be required to make a 50% Deposit at the point booking, 56 days (8 weeks) prior to your visit date, our Customer Services Team will be in touch for the remainder of your outstanding balance. Or, you can contact us with your Booking Reference Number via telephone (01751 472508) to pay the remaining balance.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate children under the age of 5 on board the Great Western Saloon Charter Services.
