Relive the golden age of steam and experience a truly unforgettable journey on a heritage steam locomotive footplate. Take a return journey from Pickering to Grosmont (36 miles) with our experienced crews and see Yorkshire’s amazing scenery as you travel through the North York Moors National Park.

About the experience

• 36-mile footplate ride on a heritage steam locomotive (18 miles in each direction between Pickering and Grosmont Stations).
• Time to have lunch (not included) and take photographs at Grosmont Station before the return leg of your journey.
• One year NYMR Membership (If you are already a NYMR Member this cost is deducted).
• A Souvenir Certificate signed by your driver.
• Your journey has helped support the Charity. 

The experience operates Mondays – Saturdays (with some exceptions) throughout the main season. All experiences start from and return to Pickering Station (YO18 7AJ), departing at 10:55 am and completing your experience at 1:50 pm.

Notes

• If you are a purchasing a Footplate Experience as a gift and do not know the recipients details, please purchase a Gift card towards the cost so that they can complete their personal details. 
• All courses are available for physically fit participants aged 16 years plus. A medical declaration will be required to sign on arrival at Customer Services.  
• Please ensure that you arrive at Customer Services, Platform 1, Pickering Station at least 45 minutes before the service is due to depart. 
• The railway is not able to honour any membership benefits until you are in receipt of your membership card (please allow 14 days for processing). Members planning to use their membership to travel on standard services should wait until their official membership card has been delivered before making a purchase or booking. 
• Existing members purchasing a Steam Experience must have a valid membership for the date of the steam experience.
