Railway Conservation. Run by Volunteers. Not for Profit.
This summer experience the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, one of the world’s greatest railway experiences. Climb on board a heritage steam or diesel train and experience 24 miles of Yorkshire’s amazing scenery at this must-see visitor attraction.
Buy a Freedom Ticket and experience the whole length of our line or hop off at any station along the way and forgo the remaining outbound stations, but safe in the knowledge of a booked seat on your scheduled return service.
Our Internal Services, running between Pickering and Grosmont, offers passengers more flexibility or the option of a shorter journey. These services stop at Pickering, Levisham, Goathland and Grosmont only and are available as singles or returns.
Tickets for services running from 6 September to 31 October will be released later in the year. If you wish to join our Services & Events mailing list, we'll be sending out an email when they are available to book.
Following on from the latest Government Announcement, 12 July, and as restrictions are easing, we feel that we need to approach the summer holidays with some caution, and we strongly advise and encourage our visitors to follow our Covid-19 mitigations to help protect our volunteers, staff and visitors.
✔ We recommend staff, volunteers and our passengers wear a face covering, whilst in buildings, when on board our services and when moving around the train and on busy platforms (unless exempt). ✔ Pre-booked seats on the end-to-end services and reduced capacity on the intermediate services.✔ Hand Sanitisers are available at various locations across the railway. If you are feeling unwell, we would ask that you or members of your party or family group do not attend the railway and we will, where possible, try to re-arrange your booking for a later date. If another date is not available balances will be transferred to a Gift Card.
Find out more about our Covid-19 Mitigations. Visit our Frequently Asked Questions.
Occasionally, due to operational requirements, we may substitute a steam engine with a diesel locomotive. Prior to your visit, please ensure that you are able to fulfil your journey within the limitations of our summer timetable.
