Railway Conservation. Run by Volunteers. Not for Profit.
Following the Government’s Roadmap to Recovery we are pleased to announce services for the eagerly anticipated 2021 season will commence from Saturday 15 May 2021. Tickets are currently only available up to 20 June*, as the Government's Roadmap to Recovery progresses, tickets for later in the year will be released.
Freedom Ticket - hop on and hop off and experience the whole line: between Pickering and Whitby with a set departure and return time to allow us to manage capacity onboard. You can hop off at any Station (If you choose to disembark at an intermediate Station, please speak to the Train Guard) and return back in your pre-booked seats.
Our Internal Services, running between Pickering and Grosmont, will have reduced capacity on-board to adhere to social distancing guidelines and enables passengers to hop-on and hop-off and explore Levisham, Goathland and Grosmont stations.
To find out what is open at each station visit our Frequently Asked Questions for more information.
We are in this together so please respect our volunteers, staff, and other visitors. As part of our passenger responsibilities, we are asking:
• All passengers to wear a face covering on platforms, in refreshments areas and on the Pullman Dining train whilst being seated or when moving through the carriage. Exemptions apply, see our face covering FAQ. • Everyone over 16years old is required to Track & Trace. • We have introduced enhanced cleaning regimes and all carriages, compartments, and touch points are cleaned between services. • Hand Sanitisers are available at various locations across the railway. • We will be asking passengers to maintain social distancing whilst using our facilities.
If you are feeling unwell, we would ask that you or members of your party or family group do not attend the railway and we will endeavour to re-arrange your booking for a later date. If another date is not available balances will be transferred to a Gift Card.
As part of the NYMR's Covid-19 mitigations, we will continue to use Zoono 'Fogging' for the foreseeable future. Zoono is used across all settings including:
• Stations • Tea Rooms & Gift Shops • Toilets • Carriages and Onboard Facilities • Booking Offices and Customer Services • Behind the scenes areas for Staff & Volunteers
Zoono 'fogging' provides an invisible protection layer against Covid-19. The NYMR is 'fogging' Zoono in the areas mentioned above every 20 days. Learn more about Zoono 'fogging' and how it works.
*Due to a pre-arranged commitment, the railway will be closed from 4 to 7 June inclusive. Occasionally, due to operational requirements, we may substitute a steam engine with a diesel locomotive. Prior to your visit, please ensure that you are able to fulfil your journey within the limitations of our reduced timetable.
