Born and bred in Leeds, 'pocket rocket' Laura has a passion for Yorkshire!

At 16 Laura completed work experience at The Yorkshire Post and loved the idea of working in PR. Whilst at Trinity and All Saints University in Leeds, she did a six week work placement at Harewood House and fell in love with the world of Tourism and Heritage.

Shortly after graduating, Laura started work at Newby Hall and Gardens where she worked for over six years learning the world of tourism, during which time she also attended Birmingham University to study Heritage Management.

Deciding to pursue a career in marketing, Laura moved to The York Dungeon where she worked for over 3 years and had a great time marketing such a fun (and scary) attraction.

Working at the railway for the past three years has brought her a series of exciting challenges including a huge re-brand, TV and Filming projects, the introduction of a new ticketing system and the launch of the huge Yorkshire's Magnificent Journey. Laura loves working with her team and driving the railway forward, whilst indulging her love of heritage tourism.

Laura lives near Harrogate with her partner and labrador. A keen runner who has completed 10 marathons, she can be found most weekends pounding the North Yorkshire countryside, or cosying up with a good book.

Earlier this year, the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) awarded NYMR £4.6M as part of the £9.2M Sustainability Project, NYMR's Yorkshire's Magnificent Journey Appeal. To help preserve the heritage line for future generations, the NYMR urgently needs to raise approx. £2.5M from members, passengers and the public over the next five years. We need your help!
