Wartime Re-enactors Expand Please note that we do not allow anyone wearing German uniforms on any of our stations or trains. They are also not welcomed in the towns along the Railway. Please show consideration as we have many original veterans attending the event. Please remember the reason we have the event is to remember and pay our respects to the railway men and women who fought and lost their lives during WWII, recreating history through re-enactment.
Parking & Road Closures Expand Road closuresOn both Saturday & Sunday the following road closures will be in place: Pickering, Park Street - 09.00 to 16.00 Pickering, Market Place & Smiddy Hill - 09.00 to 18.00 ParkingStation car parks at Pickering, Levisham, Goathland & Grosmont will be closed for non-registered vehicles (registration has closed) during the whole of the Railway in Wartime event. Alternative parking (charges apply) may be available at: Pickering Official Park & Ride: Cedar Barn (Saturday & Sunday only) & Disabled Parking: Vivis Lane Goathland Village Car Park Grosmont Village Car Park Levisham No alternative Parking is available Whitby Unaffected Please be considerate of the residents of the towns and villages and only use designated parking areas. Anyone not doing so risks being ticketed or towed by the police, please also observe the road closure signs and diversions in places especially around Pickering. Pickering Official Park & Ride: Cedar Barn, YO18 7JX (Saturday & Sunday only) Signs will be in place to direct traffic from the A64, A169 & A170 towards the official Park & Ride at Cedar Barn, please follow the signs which are in place to guide visitors to the designated parking areas. All day parking at the Cedar Barn Car Park and return Mini Bus to Pickering Town centre is £2.50 per person (Under 10s go free). The P&R will drop off at Pocklington Carpets, Eastgate and collect on the opposite side of the road for return to your car. The is NO space for coaches to park at Cedar Barn, we suggest dropping your passengers off at Eastgate Square Car Park and parking your coach there. Cedar Barn also have space for Motor Homes over night parking, please email Cedar Barn for information.
