NYMR TV Show Want to learn the secrets behind the world’s most popular steam railway? Switch on to Channel 5 and you can! ‘The Yorkshire Steam Railway: All Aboard’, a three part documentary series commissioned by DSP, part of the Endemol Shine Group, will take viewers behind the scenes at the award-winning North Yorkshire Moors Railway, as it celebrates its fiftieth anniversary this year. The North Yorkshire Moors Railways granted unprecedented access to DSP, whose co-managing directors Emily Dalton and Donna Clark, describe the show as “a real celebration of the extraordinary heritage and traditions of the country’s railways”. A special preview will be aired at Welcome to Yorkshire’s ‘Yorkshire on Show’, the UKs biggest on-stage tourism show on Wednesday 21st March, whilst Channel 5 will air the series in a primetime slot later in the year. Earlier this year, the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) awarded NYMR £4.6M as part of the £9.2M Sustainability Project, NYMR’s Yorkshire’s Magnificent Journey Appeal. To deliver the investment programme, the NYMR must raise approx. £2.5M from members, passengers and the public over the next five years. Keeping 18 miles of railway with more than thirty bridges through the difficult countryside of the North York Moors in top-notch condition is a continuing challenge. The 180-year old railway already invests around £1 million annually but there’s only so much the fare box can generate and much more is needed for the railway bridges and its 50-100 year old vehicles to remain viable. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is a not for profit charitable trust providing memorable experiences for visitors and fulfilment for volunteers and staff through the operation of Britain’s most popular heritage railway between Whitby and Pickering. The NYMR cares for operating and developing the railway it owns from Pickering to Grosmont. The heritage railway operates over Network Rail from Grosmont to Whitby. The charity provides a high quality, safe and authentic evocation of the steam age for the public. The NYMR is an Educational Charitable Trust. Providing education for all ages. The railway is a fully accredited museum. Manage Cookie Preferences
