Santa Claus is coming to … the North Yorkshire Moors Railway
4 & 5, 11 & 12, 18 & 19 and 20, 21, 22, 23 & 24 December

Join Santa and his special team of elves at either Pickering or Grosmont Station before a magical adventure aboard the Santa Express which will take you on a festive journey you won’t forget!

This enchanting Christmas experience sees Mr. Claus and his jolly helpers pass through the heritage carriages, giving children a chance to meet the legendary man himself on board the train, and gifting special presents to the children onboard - providing they’ve managed to keep themselves off the naughty list this year!

Latest Covid-19 Government Guidance 

Following the latest Government guidance, 10 December 2021, it is now a legal requirement that a face covering must be worn when you visit the NYMR, unless you are exempt. This includes when on our platforms, in our shops and tea rooms or whilst onboard our trains.

Where food or drink is consumed on our premises, we ask you to wear a face-covering in the area until you are seated or you are eating and drinking.

Some people, including children under 11, are exempt from having to wear a face covering. Furthermore, anyone with a health condition or disability, which means they cannot wear a face covering, are also exempt.

✔  Everyone visiting the NYMR must wear a face covering when visiting the NYMR. This includes whilst in buildings, on board our services and when moving around the train and on busy platforms (unless exempt).  
✔  Pre-booked seats 
✔  Hand Sanitisers are available at various locations across the railway.

If guests, employees or any volunteers are feeling unwell, we would ask that they, or members their party or family group do not attend the railway and we will, where possible, try to re-arrange your booking for a later date. If another date is not available balances will be transferred to a Gift Card.

Terms and Conditions

  • The child's age will need to be provided at the time of booking.
  • Adult (16 years+) and Children (1 – 15 years old).
  • *Children under 12 months old can travel on the service free of charge on the lap of a parent/guardian, no seat or gift will be provided, unless you purchase a child ticket for ages 0-2. Children aged 1+ must have a ticket to travel.
  • Refreshments are not included.
  • No dogs (except guide dogs) are allowed on these services.
  • Please arrive 20 minutes before departure time.
  • This service is pre-booked with seat allocations. On-the-day tickets are subject to availability, pre-booking is advised.  
  • Premier Life Members, Shareholders and Member discounts are not applicable for this event. 
  • ATOC Cards, HRA InterRail passes are not applicable for this event. 
  • Carer tickets are available for our Santa Specials. We request customers who have purchased a free carer ticket online to please produce one of the following forms of ID at the Booking Office: Personal Independence Payment (PIP) Document, Disability Living Allowance Record Book, Attendance Allowance Book, Invalidity Benefit Book, Visual Impairment Registration Card (BD8), Blue/Orange Parking Permit or written confirmation of the above from the DWP with photographic identification.

Our events will take place as planned, adhering to the latest Government guidelines, and we will continue to monitor the situation and update measures closer to the event.

NYMR reserves the right to alter, cancel or suspend events/services, allocations and advertised attractions/locomotives.
