No. 31466
No. 31466 was built in 1959 at Brush Works in Loughborough, carrying the number D5533, and was delivered to Norwich in the eastern region. In 1985, the loco was fitted with ETH (Electric Train Heating) becoming a Class 31/4, 31466. Due to their low power capabilities compared to other locos, they were often found heating stock at the depot, or on local and suburban services. 31466 was painted into EWS (English, Welsh and Scottish) maroon and gold livery for the 1998 Toton depot open day, the only member of its class to carry this livery which it still carries to this day. It was withdrawn in 2001 at Old Oak Common in West London and entered preservation in 2007 at the Dean Forest Railway. It has visited various railways since and arrived on the NYMR in 2023 where it is now a permanent addition to our diesel fleet. The loco remains operational, although is on limited duties until it receives attention to its tyres.
