Sir Nigel Gresley - The Locomotive

Built in 1937, she was locomotive designer Sir Nigel Gresley’s 100th Pacific design and set the post-war British steam speed record of 112 mph on 23 May 1959. 2026 also marks 150 years since the birth of Sir Nigel Gresley himself.

Tickets are £5 per person, bookable in advance online (limited availability, book ahead online to secure your visit) or on the day at Grosmont Shed Shop. Refreshments are available in the MIC and the Tearoom at Grosmont Station.

Whether you're a photographer, a family, or an enthusiast who can't make the running days, it's an easy and affordable way to see an icon of British steam.
