Travel along our historic line through the stunning North York Moors National Park to Goathland and back, enjoying a Christmas Afternoon Tea on board our Great Western Saloon.
As the moors unfold outside the window, tuck into a selection of festive sandwiches, savouries and cakes, all served on board. A wonderful way to start the Christmas season, in comfort and in style.
Great Western Saloon
Built in 1948 at Swindon and brought to NYMR in 1972, the saloon's large windows give superb views over the line as you travel through the North York Moors National Park, with the moors unfolding outside as you celebrate the season in comfort and in style.
Whether you're joining as a couple or a small group of friends and family, it's a wonderful setting in which to enjoy your Christmas Afternoon Tea together.
Your experience itinerary
- Return journey from Pickering Station (dep. 12:45pm) to Goathland Station and back (arr. 3:30pm).
- Travel in our luxury 1940s Great Western Saloon.
- Mulled wine on arrival.
- A selection of festive sandwiches, including roast turkey and cranberry, and smoked salmon and cream cheese.
- Local butcher's pork pie.
- Homemade cheese and chive scone.
- Broccoli and cheese tart.
- Cakes and sweet treats.
- Tea and coffee.
A small selection of drinks will be available on board should you wish to purchase more.
Fares & Booking
£85.00 per person, available for people aged 16 or over.

We can adapt the menu to cater for a Vegetarian diet provided we are advised at the time of booking and your request has been acknowledged by us as manageable. Terms & Conditions
- Guests must be over 16 years old to travel on this service, if you are lucky enough to look under 25 we will require ID before serving you alcoholic drinks.
- You will be travelling with up to 15 other pre-booked guests. Comfortable seating is supplied, however, this will not be accompanied by a table for each person.
