You say you only charge £1.99, but when I try to join it’s more. Why?

We would like to make the NYMR accessible to all including those who are unable to visit us in person for whatever reason. We understand that being able to see our wonderful steam and diesel engines in action in such a beautiful landscape should be a pleasure for as many people as possible.

In a bid to make NYMR more financially stable we have also taken the decision to introduce a small fee to be able to see our wonderful steam and diesel engines in action in such a beautiful landscape. We hope you love this as much as we do.

For a small monthly subscription fee we have up to 8 high-quality video and audio streaming cameras. This includes a camera at Grosmont Station and Pickering Station, plus lineside cameras along our heritage line (Levisham straight, Darnholm and Esk Valley).

Yes there is a subscription of £1.99 per month at present for up to 8 cameras.

You will have access to up to 8 cameras.

The subscriptions will be handled via YouTube’s Membership model. They are a monthly recurring subscription.

Our heritage railway is a registered charity, and we have taken this opportunity to find additional income streams to support the increasing costs of running a heritage railway. We feel that a small monthly membership, is a legitimate charitable interest in our continued operation.

You can absolutely suggest another location; however, it does not mean that we will be able to implement it.

This will be a mixture of both, as the cameras are fixed in position, they will see service trains passing in each direction but will only show general scenery and railway line when a train is not near the camera.

Yes, this is likely to occur, however we will aim to have the camera back online as soon as we are able.
