Santa Express magic is back for 2026 with prices frozen

We're thrilled to reveal our all-new interactive Santa Express services this festive season, with prices being frozen at last year’s price.
The festive steam train ride brings to life the magic of Christmas with the opportunity to meet Santa, and his cheeky team of elves, with services running on 28th and 29th November, 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th, 19th, 20th, 22nd-24th December 2026.
The NYMR is again collaborating with Wise Owl Theatre Company to spread seasonal joy, including a new introduction to the magical experience - Gingersnap, a classic, playful festive character who runs throughout the event. He arrives on a baking tray after having a bit of a mishap in the kitchen and throughout the show the elves will be on hand to help piece together what happened.
The experience takes guests on a return route between Pickering and Levisham for an hour-long journey featuring onboard entertainment by Santa and his elves; Elton Elf the musical genius, Chef Custard, Santa and Rudolf’s personal chef, and Joey Marshmallow, the trickster Elf.
The festive team will also deliver Christmas gifts to all children including a gingerbread man plush toy and festive book to take home as a keepsake.
For more festive fun, Pickering Station will be home to a host of activities including a Naughty or Nice Scanner; Christmas-themed fete games; a Write and Post Your Letter to Santa station; and a festive sing-along.
The Christmas emporium will be open at Pickering Station, where gifts are available as a stocking filler treat or a memento of the festive cheer. The tearoom will also be open, offering plenty to enjoy, whether that’s while waiting to board or after the journey.
