North York Moors National Park awards £50,000 contribution to Bridge 42 appeal

28th May 2026

We're so grateful to announce that the North York Moors National Park has awarded a £50,000 contribution from its S106 Landscape and Ecology fund under the Restoration of Degraded Heritage Assets scheme to support our Bridge 42 Appeal.

The funding will go directly towards the stabilisation and protection of Bridge 42 at Grosmont, a Grade II listed structure and the most historically significant bridge on our railway. Without intervention, this crucial piece of heritage faced irreversible deterioration.

Work on Bridge 42 continues, and while repairs are underway, the railway remains open. We look forward to welcoming you on the full line from Pickering to Whitby from Monday 1st June, following the completion of the Day Out With Thomas services.
