Short Winter Breaks
There's something special about the moors in winter. The crowds have thinned and the light turns golden and low across the heather. A Short Winter Break gives you three nights in one of our two characterful heritage properties, each set right beside the railway, with the North York Moors National Park and the Esk Valley on your doorstep.
Whether you fancy bracing moorland walks, a slow afternoon indoors with a good book, or a wander into one of our welcoming village pubs, our winter breaks are the perfect excuse to escape and recharge.

The Accommodation
-
Goathland Camping Coach
Tucked away on our celebrity station, which became Hogsmeade in the first Harry Potter film and Aidensfield in ITV's Heartbeat, Goathland Camping Coach sleeps up to four in one double and one twin bedroom. It has a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with shower, and heating throughout, so it stays cosy whatever the weather is doing outside. The charming village of Goathland, with its shops and pubs, is just a short walk up the bank.
-
Grosmont Station House
The beautifully restored Station House sits at Grosmont and sleeps up to five across one double and one family bedroom, both with king-size beds. With a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with both bath and separate shower, and a comfortable living room, it's an ideal base for exploring. Set off on a moorland walk straight from the door, visit the nearby artist's studio, discover Grosmont's industrial heritage at St Matthew's Church, then settle in at the Station Tavern with a well-earned pint.
See in the New Year on the Moors
Looking for somewhere memorable to welcome the New Year? Our special four-night New Year break runs from Thursday 31 December 2026 and is available at both Goathland Camping Coach and Grosmont Station House. Celebrate amid the peace and beauty of the North York Moors, with cosy heritage surroundings, welcoming village pubs nearby and crisp winter walks to clear the head on New Year's Day. Availability is strictly limited, so early booking is recommended.
Good to know
Both properties have heating throughout, a fully equipped kitchen and everything you need for a comfortable self-catering stay. Well-behaved dogs are welcome at both, with a £50 surcharge per stay. Most breaks begin on a Friday, with additional festive arrivals on Monday 28 December and the four-night New Year break on Thursday 31 December.
Please note that, unlike our main season breaks, free travel on NYMR services is not included with a Short Winter Break. Any seasonal services and festive events running during your stay, which you can find in our What's On guide, are bookable separately to your accommodation.
