Class 14 No. D9553
BR Class 14 D9553 is a preserved diesel-hydraulic ‘Teddy Bear’ locomotive, built at Swindon in 1964-65. After industrial use at BSC Corby Steelworks, it saw extensive service at the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway and later moved to the Caledonian Railway. The livery is one originally proposed by British Rail specifically for the Class 14s prior to them selecting Blue & Grey as British Rail’s corporate colours.

HYMEK No. D7017
The Class 35 'Hymek' No. D7017 is located at the West Somerset Railway (WSR), it is a diesel-hydraulic locomotive built for BR Western Region in 1961. It entered service in 1962 at Bristol Bath Road and was withdrawn in 1975 following British Rail’s move to standardise on diesel-electric traction, having outlasted many of its classmates. It was preserved by The Diesel and Electric Preservation Group, going on to haul the first service operated by a diesel loco purchased by public subscription in the UK and the first mainline diesel loco to operate on the preserved WSR in 1977.

Class 37 No. 37250
Sporting a distinctive English, Welsh, Scottish (EWS) livery. Built in 1964 at the English Electric Vulcan Foundry, this preserved BR Class 37 was originally allocated to Cardiff Canton. Over time it has had several liveries, including Dutch and Civil Engineers. In November 2003, the locomotive was allocated to work in France on building the new high-speed lines, before being bought into preservation in 2008 by its current owner. Following its move to the Eden Valley Railway, it made its way to Wensleydale Railway in 2011 where its restoration began.

HOME FLEET LOCOMOTIVES
No. 47077 North Star
This Class 47 was built at Crewe in 1964 as D1666 and later renumbered under the TOPS system. It was named in 1978 to commemorate the original North Star of the Great Western Railway, linking modern diesel traction with early railway history. Designed for mixed traffic work, the Class 47s were a common sight across the UK network for decades.
North Star serves as a working example of British Rail’s move from steam to diesel, offering visitors a chance to experience an important part of railway development first-hand.

No. 37264
The Class 37, known by some as Tractors for their agricultural sounding diesel engine, were designed for both passenger and freight work and became a familiar sight on many parts of the British Rail network. No. 37264 (originally numbered D6964) was built at the Vulcan Foundry in 1965 and served in South Yorkshire and East Anglia before transferring to Cardiff in 1988 and finishing her nearly 35-year career there in 1999 before arriving at the NYMR in 2010 and has been in regular use since.

No. 37688 Great Rocks
Constructed at English Electric's Vulcan Foundry in 1963, No. 37688 entered service as D6905, allocated to Llandore. Renumbered 37205 under the TOPS system in 1973, it worked across South Wales and Scotland before being rebuilt as a Class 37/6 and renumbered 37688 in 1986, later operating from Immingham and Tinsley. It subsequently served with Direct Rail Services on freight duties.
Acquired by D05 Preservation Ltd in 2017, it has since been repainted in Trainload Construction livery, named Great Rocks, and fitted with ICI crests. Now based at Crewe with Locomotive Services Ltd., it remains a beloved "Tractor" among enthusiasts.
