Timetable

Please read before travelling to visit us:

Work to create a second platform at Whitby is nearing completion. This will enable NYMR to run more trains in and out of Whitby as shown in Timetable B below which is due to apply from Saturday 16 August 2014. Passengers are advised to check closer to the beginning of August in case of any last minute unexpected delay.

Notes

SE Special event days – A special timetable with additional services running on the Esk Valley during Galas. Check our Special Events Page for updates to timetables.
1 – On Fridays and Saturdays may be heritage diesel hauled.
2 – On Mondays and Fridays may be heritage diesel hauled.
3 – May be diesel hauled between Grosmont and Pickering, steam hauled between Grosmont and Whitby.
D – Operated by scenic diesel railcar or diesel hauled.
M – The Moors Explorer.
P – On certain dates as advertised Pullman Dining Service with limited ordinary seating accommodation; normal train on other dates.
R – Stops by request at Newtondale Halt. Please advise on-train staff as soon as possible after joining if you wish to alight or give a clear hand signal to the driver if you wish to join the train.
V – The Lambton Worm vintage train – worked by 110 year old ‘Lambton Tank’ No. 29 (accommodation limited) and runs at peak times.
Y – The Yorkshire Coast Express.
