Yorkshire Express Service

Buy a Yorkshire Express Ticket which departs from and returns to Whitby Station. Experience the whole length of our line on your journey to Pickering or hop off at one of our intermediate stations along the way. If you specify the cost of your ticket as a donation and include an additional 10%, we can benefit from Gift Aid and claim tax back on what you pay.  

If you hop off you forgo the remaining outbound stations, but are safe in the knowledge of a booked seat on the scheduled return service. Yorkshire Express journey time in each direction is a total of approx. 1h 50m.

If you choose to disembark at any intermediate station, you may not be able to travel to Pickering and must return to Whitby on the returning leg of your outbound journey. To manage capacity onboard our carriages, Yorkshire Express tickets cannot be interchanged with one-another e.g. If you book Service A, you are not able to return on Service B.

Peak Dates:
9-24 April, 28-31 May, 1-5 June, 23-31 July, 1-31 August, 1-4, 22-25 September, 14-16, 22-30 October 2022.

The extra you pay when choosing a Donation Ticket contributes towards the continued preservation of one of the world’s greatest heritage railways. You are helping us to provide a high-quality, safe and authentic evocation of the steam age for all to enjoy.

If you give a donation, are a UK Taxpayer, and complete a Gift Aid declaration, we can claim 25% tax back from the Government at no cost to you. Enjoy travelling the full 24 miles behind a heritage steam locomotive. This means we receive an extra 25p for every £1 you spend at no extra cost to you. 

If you do not wish, or are unable to Gift Aid, you would pay the Seaside Special price.

Occasionally, due to operational requirements, we may substitute a steam engine with a diesel locomotive. Prior to your visit, please ensure that you are able to fulfil your journey within our timetable.
