Take a trip down memory lane with North Yorkshire Moors Railway this local history month

May marks Local and Community History month in the UK and to celebrate, the UK’s most popular heritage line, North Yorkshire Moors Railway, is calling on visitors that have travelled along the line to share their memories with the attraction.

Laura Strangeway, Head of Marketing at North Yorkshire Moors Railway, said: “Amongst all the doom and gloom that’s dominating the headlines at the moment, we thought it would be nice to reminisce on happier times and come together as a community, to share our experiences of this incredible part of the world.

“It’s not called God’s own county for nothing! There’s a rich and vibrant history in the area and we’d love to hear everyone’s stories, see their old photos and journey back in time with them. Especially at the moment, whilst so many people are confined to their homes, it’s a nice way to bring the outside in.

“Anyone who has a story or memory they’d like to share with us, can just send a message to one of our social media channels and we’ll keep pushing their stories out, with #localhistory20 for others to read, experience, and enjoy.”
