Salary £27,000 - £30,000 Dependent on experience.


Full-time, Permanent, working 5/7 days, including some weekends and Bank Holidays.

You will:

  • Support the H&S Manager in ensuring compliance with the NYMR Safety Management System (SMS) for all railway activities and sites.
  • Assist in the review and development of NYMR standards.
  • Advise and where necessary, develop processes for mandatory safety checks for equipment and assets.
  • Support competence compliance across the railway.
  • Support individual departments in maintaining accurate records of current competences.
  • Identify training needs across the railway and volunteer groups.
  • Undertake robust investigations, incident follow-ups, observations, and audits for safety compliance.
  • Undertake safety tours and ensure resulting actions are completed.
  • Support the Internal Audit Team in defining and delivering audits.
  • Lead incident investigations to ensure quality and independence of investigation.
  • Deputise for Health and Safety Manager in safety event reporting, during absence. 

Personal Specification:

Essential 

  • Experience in a safety specialist role or a supervisory role with safety responsibilities in a Regulated or ISO-Compliant environment.
  • Good standard of general education.
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
  • Working towards NEBOSH General Certificate.
  • UK Driving licence and own transport.

Desirable

  • Experience in a safety specialist role or a supervisory role with safety responsibilities in a Regulated or ISO- Compliant industrial or engineering environment.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate.
