Railway Conservation. Run by Volunteers. Not for Profit.
Keep up to date with our latest news regarding Coronavirus.
Please rest assured that we’re closely monitoring the situation and will of course post any updates or changes to these plans across our social channels, and here on the website.
The future of our railway is at risk and we urgently need your help to save it. COVID-19 means that we’ve had to close the line, our shop and our tearooms. We are not generating any income but we continue to work hard to care for our vital railway heritage.
We play a crucial role in the local community, providing employment, volunteering and apprenticeship opportunities and programmes to help our visitors understand the important history and heritage of the railway and the North York Moors we run through. The railway is a key highlight for many holiday makers who would usually flock here as part of their stay.
Without your support, we face an uncertain future. This would have a huge impact on local livelihoods and our educational, apprentice and volunteering programmes. Please help to keep us steaming into the future by donating whatever you can. Your support makes an enormous difference to helping to keep us running. In advance thank you for your support and donation.
All funds raised will go towards the general operating of the railway.

In light of the current government advice, we have made the difficult decision to delay the opening of North Yorkshire Moors Railway’s 2020 season until further notice.
As the situation currently stands, North Yorkshire Moors Railway is preparing for business as usual and planning to open as scheduled for the 2020 season on Monday 6th April.
Please help the railway and contribute towards the 'Crisis Appeal' by purchasing one of our virtual products.
NYMR is giving people the chance to dine on a Pullman with Piglet or accompany the General Manager Chris on a Footplate, all in a bid to keep Britain’s busiest steam railway on track.
Please help by donating to give the railway a fighting chance to be able to ‘steam on’ in its current form once the pandemic is over. Donate today by making a one-off payment or setting up a Direct Debit.
