Marketing Coordinator

We are currently recruiting for a Marketing Coordinator to join us to join us at North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

If you answered yes to these questions, then you could be in with a chance of joining the marketing team at a major heritage charity and the busiest steam heritage railway in the UK!

You will assist the Head of Marketing in developing and delivering the annual site marketing plan to achieve budgeted visitor numbers and revenue, ensuring the plan is executed as per the agreed annual timetable, adjusting when needed to meet changing trading conditions. 

Additionally, you will help deliver ‘Yorkshire’s Magnificent Journey Appeal’, marketing and organising events to generate £2.5 million over 5 years which will be match funded by a heritage lottery bid of £4.2m. 

We are looking for the following skills and experience:

  • You are a fun individual that loves working as part of a team
  • You are willing to get stuck in and work on the marketing plan prior to attraction opening
  • You will work with the Head of Marketing and assist in creating the Marketing strategy from scratch
  • You will have a background of working in Marketing and/or PR
  • You are engaged with Social Media and will promote/drive the brand passionately
  • You will work with and create great relationships with external agencies (PR, Online & Advertising)
  • You will manage key accounts and interact with external partners, groups and schools

The NYMR is a registered charity which aim is to provide a memorable experience for visitors and fulfilment for volunteers and staff through the operation of Britain’s most popular heritage railway between Whitby and Pickering by: -

  • Caring for operating and developing the railway we own from Pickering to Grosmont;
  • Operating over Network Rail from Grosmont to Whitby;
  • Focusing primarily on the operation of steam trains;
  • Providing a high quality, safe and authentic evocation of the steam age for the public; maximising opportunities for volunteers to become engaged;
  • Providing attractive employment opportunities for local people.

About NYMR

The NYMR is one of the busiest visitor attractions in Yorkshire and with 350,000 passengers each year it carries more people than any other heritage steam railway. It’s also a hugely diverse organisation. The NYMR is required to run trains to the same high safety standards as the national system. It must plan, fund and undertake major engineering projects. It aims to provide a high standard of service for passengers and for users of its catering and accommodation businesses. It is an Accredited Museum and holds a significant historic archive, used by researchers. School children enjoy tailored learning services, there are fulfilling opportunities for volunteers, whilst the railway provides vital regional employment and economic benefits.
