Following the enormous success in 2021, planning is under way for the second annual ‘Love Your Railway’ campaign, spearheaded by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR).

Heritage railway organisations across the country - both the 50+ that took part last year and new participants - are being invited to take part in this year’s six-week campaign, which will take place over the summer holidays from 25th July to 4th September, with weekly themes encouraging diverse content to inspire visitors and supporters, to show ‘why we do what we do’.

Backed by the Heritage Railway Association (HRA), ‘Love Your Railway’ secured collaborations from as far afield as Cornwall, Suffolk, North Wales, North East Scotland and Northern Ireland, with over 55 heritage railway organisations taking part in the campaign which aims to raise awareness of the many heritage railways across the UK and the important work they do with regards to conservation, education and research.

Chris Price, General Manager at NYMR, said: “Last year we were completely blown away by the response to Love Your Railway - to have over 50 heritage railways taking part in the campaign’s first year shows the incredible support and solidarity running through the sector. We have some exciting new ideas and elements planned for the 2022 campaign, and would love to see even more organisations come together and help us spread the word. and make this year even bigger and better.”
