2017 has been a spectacular year at the railway. From visiting star locomotives to engines coming back into service and a multi-million pound heritage lottery appeal launch, events and vandalism, here is our year in pictures…

January 

Taking the NYMR to York with the ticket launch of visiting locomotive 46100 Royal Scot.

February

During February Half Term we gave passengers the chance to have a steam locomotive named after themselves.  

March 

Visiting star engine 46100 Royal Scot visits the railway.

April 

Tour de Yorkshire passes through Pickering and Goathland! 

May

Traction and Rolling Stock Manager Paul Middleton purchases his very own steam locomotive, Lucie, to operate along the line. 

June

'Yorkshire's Magnificent Journey Appeal' preparation and plans are being pulled together ready to launch a £2.5 million major appeal.  

July

The railways famous teak carriages which starred in Downton Abbey and Harry Potter are unfortunately vandalised. 

August

No. 926 Repton returns back to traffic after a major overhaul. 

September

2017 Annual Steam Gala - one of our biggest Steam Galas ever! 

October 

The railway launches 'Yorkshire's Magnificent Journey Appeal' which will run over the next five years! 

November

Our Santa Specials are prepared ready to delight thousands of children - Biggest Santas to date! 

December

The railway has its first dusting of snow - making some stunning imagery!
