The programme, which also includes the work of other amateur cameraman, begins at York in 1964 before heading east to the market town of Malton where a line led to Gilling, Ampleforth and Coxwold. A journey on the branch's pick-up goods gives a fascinating reminder of PB's rural freight operations in the 1960's.

The DVD includes atmospheric shed scenes, unique footplate rides on 8 different locos, plus the interview with David Shepherd OBE, as well as superb action shots. There are a total of 45 different locos on view. Four hours of delight!

We visit Lancashire when steam still ruled in the early 1960s right through to the final days of steam in 1968. The footage is centred around Lostock Hall. Preston and Carnforth and was filmed by former Lostock Hall (10D) footplatemen. We also have a bonus film of Lostock Hall in its final years as a carriage and wagon works depot and its eventual demolition in 1990. Loco's featured include 9Fs, Jubilees, Scots, Black 5's, 8F's, Patriot's, Crabs, Fowler Tanks, Standard Class 2s, 3s, 4s & 5s, Britannia's, WD's, Super D's and pre-grouping L&Y locos.

The 2009 'Tornado' Spring Gala sees eleven engines in steam over two weekends on the NYMR. Freight and double headers are seen on the first weekend of the gala and we also see Gresley, Tornado & 45407 work passenger trains between Grosmont and Battersby on the Esk Valley branch on the second weekend. The DVD contains bonus footage of Tornado on the mainline conducting its trials and tour charters.

For the first time in over 40 years, three A4 Pacific class locomotives line up together, in steam, at Grosmont for the LNER Gala. The K1 & B1 operate on the Esk Valley Line between Whitby & Battersby. V2 No. 4771 'Green Arrow' makes it's farewell appearance on the NYMR on Saturday 26th April 2008. An experience not to be missed.

We see double heading and freight at Wartime Weekend. November and December see the worst winter conditions for 30 years with temperatures below -12. With over two feet of snow we see the Santa Specials in spectacular conditions.
