Parade Information The Foot Parade is held on the Saturday of Wartime Weekend in Pickering. It is to commemorate the Parade that was organised by the Colonel of the Welsh Guards who had been training in the Pickering Area preceding D. Day. When the troops left in 1944 to become part of the greatest seaborne assault in history, they paraded through the town to say thank you to the residents for making them welcome during a difficult period. There are no vehicle parades this year, instead we will have static displays along Market Place and Park Street. Friday 11.15 – Flag raising ceremony at Pickering Station, Railway in Wartime begins. Saturday 09.00 to 16.00 – Pickering, Park St. closed to road traffic.09.00 to 18.00 – Pickering, Market Place & Smiddy Hill closed to road traffic. 09.00 to 16.00/18.00 – Static displays of vehicles along Park Street and the Market Place.10.47 – Foot parade starts from the Junior School, marching along the roads before fall out at Smiddy Hill. Saturday – Foot Parade. The Foot Parade leaves the Junior School on Middleton Road at 10.47am proceeding down Middleton Road, Potter Hill, pausing at the Memorial Hall in remembrance, then down Bridge Street, straight over the crossroads heading up Market Place, down Smiddy Hill, left up Hallgarth where they will fall out.
