Our Pullman services capture the imagination and preserve a special part of railway history. Help us to restore the 1st class parlour, Garnet, and to extend the Pullman service into Whitby.

A great way to enjoy a wonderful fresh cooked meal while enjoying the scenery of North Yorkshire from an old fashioned styled carriage. Pristine white table cloths, attentive waiting staff and enjoyable atmosphere.”

The Pullman services are one of the railways great successes. Many people love to enjoy a wonderful meal in opulent surroundings whilst travelling through the beautiful scenery of the North York Moors.

Our Pullman services capture the public's imagination, preserve a special part of railway history and create essential revenue that can be invested into preserving the railway and restoring locomotives.

We would like to operate more Pullman services but we require more coaches; not necessarily to run longer Pullman trains (although we would like that option) but to allow the programme to be extended whilst still making time for the maintenance of exisiting cars. A bigger fleet will allow the Pullman service to be increased from its present 120 trips per year. We particularly want to add services out of Whitby, targeting day trippers, holidaymakers and local residents which would be a great attraction.

In a new grant programme for heritage railways, the Department for Transport has awarded us £60,000 towards the restoration of our unique but currently dismantled 1st Class parlour Pullman car, Garnet and the extension of the Pullman service in and out of Whitby. Along with member donations already promised, this means that we have half the estimated £160,000 restoratioon cost already in place.

With 50% raised already, can you help us raise the rest by the end of the year? Visit our appeal page to donate.
